SLS error when using webUI bootstrap

This document (7023506) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Manager 3.2
SUSE Manager 3.1

Situation

While using the webUI bootstrap from the SUSE Manager server, below error appears:

Rendering SLS 'base:bootstrap' failed: Jinja variable 'dict object' has no attribute 'status

Error seen in /var/log/rhn/rhn_web_ui.log:

ERROR com.suse.manager.webui.controllers.utils.AbstractMinionBootstrapper - Error during bootstrap: Rendering SLS 'base:bootstrap' failed: Jinja variable 'dict object' has no attribute 'status'

Resolution

Change ownership of /var/lib/salt/.ssh/known_hosts to salt.salt using the following command on SUSE MANAGER Server:

chown salt.salt /var/lib/salt/.ssh/known_hosts

Cause

The ownership of /var/lib/salt/.ssh/known_hosts has been changed due to the usage of the command on SUSE MANAGER Server:

ssh-keygen -R testsumaclient.nue.suse.com -f /var/lib/salt/.ssh/known_hosts

Additional Information

Make sure there aren't any old orphaned entries in /var/lib/salt/.ssh/known_hosts which can cause issues while using webUI bootstrap.
