pvresize overwrites PV headers of some PVs with headers from other PVs

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 12 SP5
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 12 SP4
Situation
At a later stage, running pvs will complain about duplicate PV UUID
pvresize /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-360060e80072a660000302a6600003222 Error writing device /dev/sdaf at 4096 length 512. Failed to write mda header to /dev/sdaf fd -1 Failed to update old PV extension headers in VG vg01. Error writing device /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-360060e80072a660000302a6600003111 at 4096 length 512. Failed to write mda header to /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-360060e80072a660000302a6600003111 fd -1 Failed to update old PV extension headers in VG vg02. Error writing device /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-360060e80072a660000302a6600003888 at 4096 length 512. Failed to write mda header to /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-360060e80072a660000302a6600003888 fd -1 Failed to update old PV extension headers in VG vg03.
with pvresize performed above, the lvm metadata was corrupted and written to the wrong devices.
Resolution
Kindly use below or newer lvm2 package:
- lvm2-2.02.180-9.26.1 ( SLES 12 SP4/SP5 )
- lvm2-2.02.180-12.12.1 ( SLES 15 SP1 )
