The "mgr-sync" command fails with a ProtocolError

Environment

SUSE Manager 5.x


Situation

The "mgr-sync-refresh-bunch" job is taking a very long time to complete, up to multiple hours. Verifying by running "mgr-sync" directly from the command line, this fails:

 

yuni-server:/ # date; time mgr-sync -v -d 3 refresh

Resolution

Remove and re-add the organization credentials.

Cause

Suspected corruption of the configured credentials.

Additional Information

The credentials can either be removed using the WebUI or from the command line. It is needed to first enter the container with "mgrctl term" before executing the below commands.

To list the existing credentials:

 mgr-sync list credentials

To delete the SCC organization credentials:

 mgr-sync delete credentials

To re-add the credentials:

 mgr-sync add credentials
