CVE-2013-2164 at MITRE

Description

The mmc_ioctl_cdrom_read_data function in drivers/cdrom/cdrom.c in the Linux kernel through 3.10 allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel memory via a read operation on a malfunctioning CD-ROM drive.

Note from the SUSE Security Team

This problem affects all SUSE Linux Enterprise versions. It however requires a malfunctioning disk drive or medium, so only attackers able to access the machine would be able to exploit this.

Note from the SUSE Security Team on the kernel-default package

SUSE will no longer fix all CVEs in the Linux Kernel anymore, but declare some bug classes as won't fix. Please refer to TID 21496 for more details.

Note from the SUSE Security Team on the xen package

This issue likely only affects the XEN hypervisor itself, unless otherwise stated. The userland utilities in -tools and libraries in -libs are shipped together with the xen hypervisor as they are built from one source and do not contain hypervisor specific fixes.
