How to use a kISO installation medium

This document (7005029) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11

Situation

The installation of SuSE Linux Enterprise Server/Desktop 11 fails due to a kernel panic.

Resolution

Customers affected by this issue are advised to contact SUSE Technical Services. In co-operation with the hardware vendor SUSE may provide a kISO installation medium, which contains (amongst others) a kernel which fixes the issue.

In order to install the software, boot off the kISO installation medium instead of the original SLES 11 installation media. During the installation process you will be asked to insert the original installation medium to continue the installation.
