Environment
Situation
Starting httpd2 (prefork) (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:443
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs
startproc: exit status of parent of /usr/sbin/httpd2-prefork: 1
Resolution
- Edit /etc/apache2/listen.conf
- Remove any duplicate entries such as:
Listen 443
Listen 443
Listen 80
Listen 80 - Save and close the file.
Cause
Additional Information
- Nothing else listening on specified port:
netstat -peanut | grep :443 - No ghost process running of apache:
ps aux | grep -e apache -e http
