Situation

SUSE has received knowledge about new attacks agains the Wireless "WPA" protocol and its implementations.

These attacks are "Key Reinstallation AttaCKs" on various handshakes contained in the WPA protocol (hence the KRACK).

These problems are largely implementation problems of the WPA protocol, where following the protocol description lead to insecure handshake code.

To our current knowledge the problems can be fixed without breaking compatibility.

These attacks allow WPA session hijacking, sniffing, decryption. etc, both on the access point and also on the client side.

Resolution

SUSE released the following updates :

Cause

CVE-2017-13077: reinstallation of the pairwise key in the 4-way handshake
CVE-2017-13078: reinstallation of the group key in the 4-way handshake
CVE-2017-13079: reinstallation of the integrity group key in the 4-way handshake
CVE-2017-13080: reinstallation of the group key in the group key handshake
CVE-2017-13081: reinstallation of the integrity group key in the group key handshake
CVE-2017-13082: accepting a retransmitted FT Reassociation Request and reinstalling the pairwise key while processing it
