no syslog service after upgrade from SLES 11 SP4 to SLES 15

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 15 SP2
​​​​​SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 15 SP1
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 15
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES 11 SP4
 

Situation

Since upgrade from SLES 11 SP4 to SLES 15 there no new log entries in /var/log/messages

When the status for syslog is checked, the following error message is displayed :
systemctl status syslog.service
Unit syslog.service could not be found

Resolution

Install syslog :
zypper in syslog

Cause

SLES 11 SP4 uses syslog-ng while SLES 15 uses rsyslog.
During the upgrade syslog-ng will be deleted, but rsyslog will not be installed automatically.
