YaST User Management module keeps asking for LDAP password even though LDAP is disabled

This document (3396610) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Support Pack 1
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 Support Pack 1

Situation

On a server/client that previously had LDAP enabled, after disabling LDAP the YaST User Management module still keeps asking for a LDAP Server Password

Resolution

In the YaST User Management module, go to Filter -> Customize filter, deselect LDAP and select Local. Repeat this in the Group Management module.

Alternatively, while YaST is shut down, edit the file /var/lib/YaST/users.ycp and change "ldap" to"local".
