ARCH: s390, s390x
zipl
Situation
The /var/log/boot.msg shows the following:
run boot scripts (boot.lvm)
Scanning for LVM volume groups...
Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while...
Found volume group "vg00" using metadata type lvm2
Activating LVM volume groups...
5 logical volume(s) in volume group "vg00" now active
..done
exit status of (boot.lvm) is (0)
The volume group vg01 is not found or activated.
vg01 is found and activated when '/etc/init.d/boot.lvm start' is
executed after the system is booted.
The physcial devices /dev/dasd[e-k]1 are assigned to vg01 volume
group, but are not detected before boot.lvm is run at boot.
Resolution
2. Mount all needed volumes from all volume groups
3. Run mk_initrd
4. Run zipl
5. Reboot the VM
