Which version (32 or 64 bit) of SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 was installed?

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10

Situation

Purpose:

After installing SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop, is there a way to determine which one of the 32 bit or 64 bit versions of the operating systems was installed?

Resolution

After the install is complete do the following:

1.) right click on the desktop
2.) select Open Termnal
3.) type: uname -a

If the end of the output looks like this: x86_64 GNU/Linux, the 64 bit version of the operating system was installed.

If the end of the output looks like this: i686 i386 GNU/Linux, the 32 bit version of the operating system was installed.
