Bonding network cards and advertising an install source via SLP shows as 0.0.0.0
This document (7002676) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.
Environment
Situation
Whilst creating the installation source the 'Announce as Installation Service with SLP' box was checked.
Creating an install source as NFS, FTP or HTTP makes no difference.
In the file, /etc/slp.reg.d/YaST-xxxxxx.reg, the first line displays similar to:
service:install.suse:http://0.0.0.0/install/path,en,65535
Resolution
A workaround can be implemented by manually editing the file, /etc/slp.reg.d/YaST-xxxxxx.reg.
Replace 0.0.0.0 with an entry that will resolve, such as:
- Server name
- Servers IP address
- $HOSTNAME
Then restart SLP:
/etc/init.d/slpd restart
Additional Information
slptool findsrvtypes
An entry similar to the following should exist:
service:install.suse:http
