High traffic on Hyper-V guest cause network interface to fail

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 1

Situation

hyper-v-kmp-default-0_2.6.32.27_0.2-0.8.2

When utilizing the synthetic network interface (kernel driver: hv_netvsc.ko) in a SLES11SP1 installation running as guest on Microsoft 2008 R2 Hyper-V after some time the interface does not respond anymore. Shutting down the interface using ifdown ethX and ifup ethX gets the connectivity temporarily back.

Resolution

Please update to kernel-*-2.6.32.36-0.5.2 or later to address this issue.
