crash not showing "exception RIP" data

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 1

Situation

When analyzing a crash dump with crash, the tool for analyzing the core dump, the backtrace doesn't show the exception frame. For example:

Resolution

A future crash update will include the patch to resolve the problem.
Customers affected by this issue can alternatively contact SUSE Technical Services to request a PTF (temporary fix). SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 2 includes the crash update with the patch.
