SUSE Manager Management Pack installation fails with error: Could not find SCOM server URL

Environment

SUSE Manger Management Pack for Microsoft System Center

Situation

During the installation of SUSE Manager Management Pack, the installer returns:


Error Could not find SCOM server URL for current user. Set SCOM server details with operational console and try again at MPCustomAction.InstallerClass.InstallSUSEManagementPack() at MPCustomAction.InstallerClass.Install(IDictionary stateSaver) Error Installation process is aborted.

Resolution

During installation, on the screen where the installer asks to choose an installation folder, select "Just me". Choosing "Everyone" may cause the installer to error out.

Cause

The url is stored in the registry and with "Everyone" the registry entry for the url is always set as empty.
