SLES11 SP4 LTSS kernel - WARNING: at ./drivers/tty/tty_mutex.c:28

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP4 LTSS
 

Situation

Logging into the console of a SLES 11 SP4 server or VM that has the LTSS channel in the repo and running the following kernel packages:
kernel-default-3.0.101-108.120.1.x86_64.rpm
kernel-default-base-3.0.101-108.120.1.x86_64.rpm
will cause the server or VM to hang and/or freeze.

/var/log/messages will contain the following error entries:

Resolution

An updated kernel has been released to fix this issue.
Update to the following kernel levels or higher:
kernel-default                         3.0.101-108.123.1
kernel-default-base                    3.0.101-108.123.1
kernel-default-devel                   3.0.101-108.123.1
