Bootstrapping a minion in the web-UI results in error "An Exception occurred while executing state.apply"

Situation

Trying to bootstrap a new minion in the web-UI throws an error similar to this one:

An Exception occurred while executing state.apply: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/tmp/.S4pAdm......salt/running_data'

Please notice that the exact name of one of the subdirectories might be slightly different.

Resolution

Ownership of the subdirectory (that exists in the SUSE Manager Server, not in the client) should be properly set up:

chown -R salt:salt /var/tmp/.S4P...

Again, the name of the subdirectory (the one starting with .S4P) will be different in each situation, so either tab completion or wildcards should be used in order to target it properly.

Cause

Wrong ownership of the subdirectory, that together with reduced file permissions prevented the access to some needed files. Changing the ownership will fix the problem.
