glibc-livepatches - nothing provides 'libc.so.6(GLIBC_PRIVATE)(64bit)'

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP4

Situation

Installing glibc-livepatches-0.1-150400.3.3.1 from a SUSE Manager repository or with "rpm -Uhv glibc-livepatches-0.1-150400.3.3.1" fails with:

# zypper in glibc-livepatches
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
Resolving package dependencies...

Problem: nothing provides 'libc.so.6(GLIBC_PRIVATE)(64bit)' needed by the to be installed glibc-livepatches-0.1-150400.3.3.1.x86_64
 Solution 1: do not install glibc-livepatches-0.1-150400.3.3.1.x86_64
 Solution 2: break glibc-livepatches-0.1-150400.3.3.1.x86_64 by ignoring some of its dependencies

Resolution

The glibc-livepatches update released July/11 includes the patch to resolve the problem.

Cause

The glibc-livepatches sources required several symbols marked as internal in glibc.
This lead to the requirement of the GLIBC_PRIVATE symbol and the installation/update to fail.

# zypper -q info --requires glibc-livepatches
