SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP5
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 15 SP5

Situation

After upgrading from SLES12SP5 to SLES15SP5, a DNS entry under /etc/resolv.conf disappeared.

Resolution

Add your desired DNS server ip address in /etc/sysconfig/network/config with the line:

NETCONFIG_DNS_STATIC_SERVERS="x.x.x.x y.y.y.y"

After changing the configuration, using the following command to refresh and update the configuration:

netconfig update -f

Cause

Selected Default Policy option in YaST , the configuration is handled by the netconfig script which merges the data defined statically.
