Challenges and solution
Aiming to deliver safe autonomous-driving to the masses, STRADVISION develops and delivers smart AI-based camera perception technology at a fraction of the cost of its competition. In particular, STRADVISION is developing SVNET, a deep learning-based recognition AI. Developing AI requires significant computational resources and learning data. To maintain its go-to-market strategy, STRADVISION strives to keep costs low while using the best available technologies. It adopted Kubernetes in a digital transformation initiative to optimize scalability for managing these resources and to prepare for future cloud migrations to AWS and GCP. However, as its cluster environment expanded, the company found standalone Kubernetes too complex to manage and maintain without an orchestrator. Seeking a cluster management solution, STRADVISION initially considered Red Hat OpenShift but ultimately selected Rancher Prime.
“We introduced Kubernetes to make container management more convenient, but managing Kubernetes itself required a lot of extra effort. Connecting master and worker nodes, checking and controlling the status of numerous containers within the cluster, and debugging when issues arose — operating Kubernetes in its open source state required a lot of effort and expertise from many IT professionals, which led to an increase in IT operational costs. Through Rancher Prime, we were able to reduce disruption, respond faster to customer requests, maximize efficiency, contribute to cost savings, and eventually deliver greater value to customers.”

After implementing Rancher Prime, STRADVISION successfully simplified managing, deploying and scaling its machine learning workloads on Kubernetes.
