scatool fails with traceback

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP2
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP1

Situation

After installing the scatool and its patterns, and error happens when running the tool.

# zypper in sca-server-report sca-patterns*
# scatool
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/sca/python/scatool.py", line 32, in <module>
    import readline
ImportError: No module named readline

This worked fine in SLES15 GMC.

 

Resolution

Update sca-server-report package to version 1.0.1-4.3.1 or higher.

Cause

Some needed libraries were moved to the python package, which does not get installed in SLES15 SP1 or higher by default. The python package is no longer needed after updating the sca-server-report package.
