Can't connect to Remote Desktop (Display :0) on SLED10

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10

Situation

Cannot access remote desktop using VNC viewer
Cannot access desktop on display :0
Times out when remotely accessing desktop
Can only access desktop :1
Can only spawn new desktop using VNC viewer

Resolution

The firewall is blocking the correct port. Enable port 5900 by going to Control Center > Yast > Security and Users > Firewall > Allowed Services > Advanced > add 5900 for all ports. Click Ok.

Now you should be able to run"vncserver ipaddress" from any workstation and access the remote computer.

Also make sure remote desktop control is enabled by going to:

Control Center > System> Remote Desktop > Allow others to view your desktop
