How to Remove an HA Heartbeat Cluster on SLES 10
This document (3964086) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.
Environment
Situation
There are times that you may want to completely start over with the high availability (HA) configuration. The process described assumes you are using the default cluster information base (CIB) database. All resources will be lost, but the cluster configuration files themselves are not, and can be modified.
Resolution
1. rcheartbeat stop
2. rm $(find /var/lib/heartbeat -type f)
3. rm /var/lib/heartbeat/fifo
At this point you should check the /etc/ha.d/ha.cf file on all nodes for a valid cluster configuration. Then run 'rcheartbeat start' on all nodes to recreate the cluster and start heartbeat services.
A new UUID will be given to each node. This is why it's important to complete these steps on all nodes to avoid a duplicate node scenario.
