key not found" warning when running YaST from a VNC session

This document (7006549) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Deskop 11 (SLED 11)
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (SLED 11)

Situation

Remote access is established to a SLED 11 or SLES 11 system through VNC.  When attempting to run YaST the following message is displayed:

WARNING **: key not found [/apps/yast-control-center/cc_actions_list]

YaST will normally still run and functions correctly.

Resolution

This warning is due to a gconf entry that has a missing value.

Open a terminal window and enter the command:

gconf-editor

On the left, expand "apps" then select "yast-control-center".  Once selected you will see the values associated with the selection on the right.  The "cc_actions_list" will most likely have no values associated.  Double-click "cc_actions_list" and add an entry with a ";" then OK the change.  The final result should look like this:

cc_actions_list               [;]

Run YaST again and the warning should be gone.
