SMT sync fails using HTTP Proxy - Exiting subroutine via last line 1313

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
Subscription Management Tool (SMT) for SUSE Linux Enterprise 11

Situation

SMT server is configured to use an HTTP proxy and running the command smt-ncc-sync terminates with the following error message:

Exiting subroutine via last at
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.0/SMT/CLI.pm line 1313

Resolution

Missing http protocol definition in /etc/smt.conf file. The smt.conf file had the following incorrect entries:

HTTPProxy = proxy.com:80
HTTPSProxy = proxy.com:80

These proxy entries need to be changed by adding http:// as follows:

HTTPProxy = http://proxy.com:80
HTTPSProxy = http://proxy.com.80

Once the changes have been made to the smt.conf file, restart the SMT service with rcsmt restart and issue the command smt-ncc-sync.
