openwsman: owsmangencert.sh generates error

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP2

Situation

When a user tries to create a selfsigned certificate for an openwsman server using the owsmangencert.sh script, the script gathers all the user provided information and finally fails with the following error message:

Cannot write random bytes:
139974501831104:error:2407007A:random number generator:RAND_write_file:Not a regular file:crypto/rand/randfile.c:183:Filename=/dev/random

Resolution

Workaround:
Comment out the RANDFILE parameters inside /etc/openwsman/ssleay.cnf and /etc/openwsman/owsmangencert.sh

This issue is resolved in the openwsman update SUSE-SLE-Module-Server-Applications-15-SP2-2020-2659 (released Sep 16 2020)

Cause

The random number generator has been redesigned in openssl-1.1.1, it automatically reseeds itself using trusted system entropy resources, so setting RANDFILE is no longer necessary and its use is discouraged.
openwsman has not yet adopted this change in its config files.
