How to Reset SUSE Manager User Password

Environment
SUSE Manager Server 4.3
SUSE Manager Server 5.1
Situation
As SUSE Manager Administrator or SUSE Manager User, you need to reset or recover from a lost password.
Resolution
- To recover the forgotten username or password please follow the steps mentioned below on SUSE Manager Server WebUI
- Navigate to Web UI sign in page
- Click About
- Click Lookup Login/Password.
- Enter the username or email address
- Click Send Password or Send Login
- Missing information will be sent to you
- To reset the password via SUSE Manager server command line interface, please use the following commands:
- satwho - List the login names of users on the management server.
- satpasswd - Change a user's password on the management server.
Usage: satpasswd [OPTIONS] user Options: -h, --help Print this help message. -s, --stdin Read the password from standard input. Example: # satpasswd user2 Password: Retype password:
Additional Information
Due to the nature of the satwho
and satpasswd
commands, access to these commands is restricted to the root user. For more information, please refer to the following:
