SLED10 : Beryl as a desktop

This document (3777742) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10

Situation

It is desired to use, Beryl, one of the most commonly referred to replacements of the Xgl/Compiz GL desktop, rather than Xgl. It is a "fork" of the Compiz project, and as a result, will have many of the same features of Xgl. To quote from the http://www.beryl-project.org/ website :

"With Beryl the rather esoteric concept of the computer desktop is brought down to a more human level, allowing for a more native and intuitive understanding of your workspace."

Resolution

Beryl does not ship with SLED10, and is therefore unsupported.
