lvm.conf overwritten after upgrade to SLES 11 SP1

Environment
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 1
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 Service Pack 1
Situation
The default lvm.conf has been modified, for instance, with customized filters. After upgrade
to SLES 11 SP1 or SLED 11 SP1, the modifications have been lost. That is, the configuration file
is again the default one.
Resolution
This is due to the fact that lvm.conf changed from GA to SP1,
- locking_type = 1
+ locking_type = 3
- missing_stripe_filler = "/dev/ioerror"
+ missing_stripe_filler = "error"
Preserving the previous file would mean that LVM will continue using the old LVM
configuration file, and that might generate other problems.
Thus, to solve this issue, it is necessary to extract the information from the old configuration
file and integrate it manually into the new lvm.conf.
