Migrating a SLES 12 system to SLES for SAP Applications 12

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 12

Situation

A running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 needs to be migrated to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications 12 without reinstalling it. This TID explains the process.

Resolution

Use an interactive script.

NOTE: These script is only working if you've register the server directly to the Customer Center.

Download the following RPM file:

    migrate-sles12sp0-to-sles4sap-11.4-2.1.noarch.rpm

Install the RPM:

    # rpm -Uhv migrate-sles12sp0-to-sles4sap-11.4-2.1.noarch.rpm

After installation run the interactive script and follow the instruction on the screen:

       # Migrate_SLES_to_SLES-for-SAP-12.sh

Please note that in case you do have packages installed that have dependencies against IBM Java, you may have to reinstall them at the end of the procedure.

Reboot the system to apply all changes
